President El Sisi Meets World Jewish Congress President

On Sunday, 29 July, President Abdel Fattah El Sisi met with the World Jewish Congress’ President Ronald Lauder in Cairo.

According to a statement released by the Office of the Presidency, President El Sisi “emphasized Egypt’s commitment to advancing its strategic relations with the U.S. and to further engaging with the various segments of American society. President El Sisi also “reviewed Egypt’s efforts to reach political solutions in crises in the region based on the principles of respect for the countries’ sovereignty and territorial integrity and on the non-interference in their domestic affairs.”

The meeting also touched on a number of regional issues, including the Middle East peace process. President El Sisi asserted that achieving Palestinian reconciliation and the return of the legitimate authority to assume its responsibilities in the Gaza Strip will help advance attempts to resume negotiations between the Palestinians and Israelis and to reach a just and comprehensive solution to the Palestinian issue.

Today, President Abdel Fattah El Sisi met with President of the World Jewish Congress, Mr. Ronald Lauder.

President El Sisi emphasized Egypt’s commitment to advancing its strategic relations with the U.S. and to further engaging with the various segments of American society. This will help clarify the situation with regard to the real challenges facing the region and enhance the two countries’ joint positions and efforts to restore stability and security in the Middle East. President El Sisi reviewed Egypt’s efforts to reach political solutions in crises in the region based on the principles of respect for the countries’ sovereignty and territorial integrity and on the non-interference in their domestic affairs.

Mr. Lauder lauded the robust relations between Egypt and the U.S. and expressed his appreciation for Egypt’s efforts and key role in countering the danger of terrorism which is threatening the security and stability of the Middle East and the world. He added that this comes in tandem with Egypt’s efforts to push forward the development process to achieve comprehensive economic progress. The President of the World Jewish Congress expressed his admiration of Egypt’s achievements over the past short period of time, and confirmed that Egypt’s current economic development will contribute significantly to attracting foreign investment and to the Egyptian economy restoring the position it deserves internationally.

The meeting touched on a number of regional issues, primarily the Middle East peace process. President El Sisi reiterated Egypt’s position in support of all efforts exerted to help resume the peace process between the Palestinians and Israelis, in line with international references agreed upon and based on the two-state solution, along the 1967 border. He added that this will provide a new reality in the region, conducive to restoring peace and stability in its countries.
