President El Sisi Meets Israeli Prime Minister Netanyahu

On Monday, 18 September, President Abdel Fattah El Sisi met with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu in New York City.

According to a statement released by the Office of the Presidency, President El Sisi “underscored the importance Egypt accords to efforts to resume negotiations between the Palestinians and Israelis, in order to reach a just and comprehensive solution to the Palestinian issue, in accordance with the two-state solution and relevant international resolutions,” and that he “valued efforts exerted by the administration of U.S. President Donald Trump in this regard.”

The meeting, which was also attended by Foreign Minister Sameh Shoukry, the Director of the General Intelligence Directorate Mr. Khaled Fawzy, and the Director of the Office of the President Major General Abbas Kamel, “focused on ways to revive the peace process and establish a Palestinian state, while providing the necessary guarantees to ensure the success of the settlement process between the two sides,” according to the release.

President El Sisi Meets Israel’s Prime Minister Netanyahu

President Abdel Fattah El Sisi met at his residence in New York on Monday with Israel’s Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu. The meeting was attended by Foreign Minister Sameh Shoukry, the Director of the General Intelligence Directorate, Mr. Khaled Fawzy and Director of the Office of the President, Major General Abbas Kamel.

The meeting addressed ways to revive the peace process. President El Sisi underscored the importance Egypt accords to efforts to resume negotiations between the Palestinians and Israelis, in order to reach a just and comprehensive solution to the Palestinian issue, in accordance with the two-state solution and relevant international resolutions. President El Sisi valued efforts exerted by the administration of U.S. President Donald Trump in this regard. He confirmed that a final and just settlement to the Palestinian issue will provide a new reality in the Middle East, where all peoples in the region shall enjoy stability, security and development.

Israel’s Prime Minister Netanyahu expressed his appreciation for Egypt’s important role in the Middle East and for its efforts to combat terrorism and reinforce stability and peace in the region.

The meeting focused on ways to revive the peace process and establish a Palestinian state, while providing the necessary guarantees to ensure the success of the settlement process between the two sides.
