President El-Sisi visits Washington D.C. April 8th-10th 2019

President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi arrived in Washington D.C on April 8th for an official visit to the United States. President El-Sisi held talks with President Trump on April 9th. Both presidents emphasized the outstanding status of Egyptian – American relations at the moment as President El-Sisi expressed his eagerness to advance ties between both countries in all fields. President Trump highlighted first lady Melania Trump’s visit to Egypt and the wonderful time she had while visiting the pyramids.  President El-Sisi met during the visit with Secretary of State Mike Pompeo, and senior adviser to the President Jared Kushner to discuss the regional situation. He also met with the Managing Director of the International Monetary Fund where they tackled Egypt’s progress in the implementation of the economic reform program. President El-Sisi also met with adviser to the U.S. President Ivanka Trump to explore potential cooperation between Egypt and the United States with regard to the economic empowerment of women, in light of President El-Sisi’s agenda for advancing women’s role in society. President El-Sisi concluded his visit by attending a dinner hosted by the U.S. Chamber of commerce in Washington D.C. The dinner was also attended by the chamber’s vice president, the chairman of the Egypt-U.S. Business Council and CEOs of major American companies. The discussion addressed the improving business climate in Egypt and tackled ways of expanding American investments in the Egyptian market in light of the Egyptian government’s commitment to economic reform and the importance of the private sector as an engine for growth.
