Since 2011, Egypt has embarked on a democratic political transition led by the Egyptian people’s aspiration for a better future. This political evolution is unlike any Egypt has achieved in its modern history. Driven by citizens’ demands for both political stability and economic progress, we are together building a new Egypt, with an inclusive, accountable, responsive and effective government that works to fulfill the people’s desire for equitable prosperity and enduring liberty, stability and social justice.
Egypt has held three free and fair elections since 2014 to approve a progressive new Constitution, elect a President and vote into office the most diverse and empowered Parliament in our history. Each moment of popular democratic expression fulfilled a key milestone in Egypt’s ongoing political evolution.
Egypt takes pride in its advances even as we recognize that fostering democracy requires time and patience. Though this progress is not always easy, Egypt is on a path that is irreversible.
