Egyptian expatriates in Washington, DC cast their votes for a new Parliament

On Saturday and Sunday, 17-18 October 2015, hundreds of Egyptian expatriates voted in the first phase of parliamentary elections at the Embassy of Egypt in Washington, DC. The Embassy was one of 139 Egyptian consulates and embassies around the world hosting Egyptians abroad for voting in the first legislative elections since 2012.

To celebrate this  momentous occasion, the Embassy compiled a short-video featuring footage of Egyptian expatriates exercising their democratic right to vote and sharing their thoughts on Egypt’s democratic progress.

The second phase of voting is scheduled to commence on 22-23 November. After voting concludes, a new Parliament will be convened for the first time since 2012, marking an important milestone in Egypt’s democratic evolution.
